A Husband's Permission

“Sure.”

“That’s it?”

“What’d you expect?”

“Maybe a little resistance.”

“We’ve been friends for years. You know me better than that.”

“This is your wife we’re talking about. You ought to care, Alex, for her sake.”

“I’m not really sure I see it that way. You’re making the assumption that we still love each other.”

“If that’s not true, you’re very careful to maintain the illusion.”

“In my line of work, the importance of reputation can’t be understated.”

“So without even raising an objection, you’re going to let me kidnap her?”

“Under the condition that I get a cut of the ransom money, say 20%?”

“Alex, I love you man, but you realize I’m already splitting it with accomplices, right?”

“How hard can it be to nab a skinny broad in the middle of the wilderness?”

“I’ll need at least one other man, someone who knows the Ozarks, to find the old cabin.”

“Hell, I know the place, I’m not doing anything this weekend… and a little campout sounds like fun.”
