Just A Little Lack of College Planning
As soon as the movie ended he stretched, with a look of relief on his face. Him: Thank goodness that’s over. Did you finish the worksheet on it?
I nodded. Me: All except for eight.
Him (glancing at his paper): the chorus.
Me: ah, thanks.
Him: So you’re doing extra credit now-
Me: So when I screw up later I’ll be covered, yes.
He nodded. Him: It’s gotta suck though. I mean, it isn’t really fair is it?
I looked at him questioningly. Him: Like, teachers don’t teach the same stuff at the same time, especially in different states.
I suddenly understood what he was saying. I shrugged. Me: You figure it out.
Him: But… it can’t be easy, and the toll it takes on your grades and… therefore college.
That stopped me. I never really thought about college. I know I’m a junior and I should be and everything, but I never really had. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my life.
It was unsettling.
He sighed. Him: Sorry, I shouldn’t have brought it up.
I smiled wanly. Me: No, maybe you should have.
