Master of the Obvious

“Oh, I’m in, man. Are you kidding? I want to see that bitch get what she deserves as much as you do.”

“Good. I was just checking. But I’m not cool with the way you found out, Mendez.”

“Yeah, well, you can blame the R.A. for that. I wasn’t the one eavesdropping.”

Damn. Mendez had a point.

“Well, he won’t be getting away with this!”

“Easy, big guy. Let’s focus on breaking Jodi’s worthless heart first.”

“Yeah, you’re probably right.”

Crazy that I’d find myself saying that to Mendez. But the last 24 hours had been insane enough.

I crept back into my dorm at a quarter to four in the morning. No sooner had I put my key into the lock that the R.A. poked his head out of his room down the hall.

“Jordan Brewster,” he intoned, his voice belonging more in a funeral parlor than in a dorm hall.

I sighed. “Yes.”

“You’re rather late.” Master of the obvious!

“Yes.”

“Tom has been waiting up for you. He’s quite worried.”

“OK, thanks.”

“Oh, and Brewster?”

“Yes?”

“Make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
