Relief
It is Monday morning and I haven’t seen Ashley anywhere. It was lunch time and she is usually outside on the courtyard by now, but she isn’t there. I walked over to Emily and asked,
“Where’s Ashley?”
“I think she’s sick.” she replied.
Well, at least I don’t have to deal with her today.
“But she did mention about how badly she feels because of how you were acting this weekend,” she said.
Oh gosh, please tell me she won’t do anything stupid.
I sat down across from her and had a worried face. Emily looked over at me and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m just worried about Ashley, that’s all.”
“Hey, it’s not like she’s going to do anything stupid. You didn’t, so why should she?”
I thought about the knife again and looked down at the table.
“You didn’t… did you?” Emily asked and grabbed my hand and looked on both wrists. She sighed in relief and said, “Don’t do that to me!”
“S-Sorry,” I said. If I would have cut myself, she would have found out that moment. I couldn’t imagine her expression.
What would Ashley say?
