I like it. It reminds me of the world of Pride and Prejudice. Girls having their reputations sullied by supposed gentlemen (while the gentlemen lose next to nothing in their standing). You can feel the tension of the gossip on the would-be wallflower, as she witnesses her cousin’s reputation defrauded, whether or not the girl deserves it.
