I enjoy how the descriptions tell as much about the standards of the period as they do about the characters themselves.

Good job keeping realistic description in the midst of the character’s obvious bias in the situation. And nice word choice with ‘flaxen’…really suits the time.

To tell you the truth, I don’t like blond unless it’s kind of dirty, or brown – streaked. Reminds me of my mother, I guess…Okay, that was really random. Anyways, I think Samantha is one of those young women that think they aren’t pretty, but they are, really in fact. I like the idea of the ‘slanted’ eyes. Gives me a cat – like impression.
