Understanding
He nodded quietly. I thought of the screaming I’d heard from the room where they were keeping the young Warlock who had traveled with me; he was well on his way to becoming a Vampire. “So, when do the conversions start?” I asked calmly.
Davincent looked shocked, “We’ll have to train you first! God Fae, we’ll have to train those converting you too! Do you have any idea how dangerous Converting is? It’s a very delicate art. We could kill you.”
I scowled at him, “I’ve been running from death my entire life, Davincent. Do you think I haven’t accepted the idea a million times over? There were so many times I was sure it was all coming to an end. So many times I was sure I wouldn’t make it out alive,” I could hear my voice losing its edge as I ended my rant. I could hear it catching as I thought about everything I had been through.
The smell suddenly got worse and I felt something cold holding my shoulders. Davincent was staring into my eyes, “I’m sorry Fae. Really.”
His red eyes bored into me. Understanding.
