The Following Ficlet Takes Place Between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM

Interior. Dimly lit room, within an abandoned warehouse. Jason wakes up, surveying his surroundings. Panic does not set in. He slowly calculates his odds of escape. And waits for the opportune moment.

“Looks like he’s starting to stir,” Guillermo commented.

“Then, it’s time,” Marcos said. “Victor get me Dr. Reeves on the phone. I think we’ve waited long enough.”

“What am I your secretary now?” Victor said, cooly.

“Just do it!”

“Okay, okay.” Victor dialed the number and handed the phone to Marcos, subserviently, but not merrily.

“Hello,” Dr. Reeves answered.

“Dr. Reeves, we have somebody here who’d like to say something.”

“Do I know you? What’s this all about?”

Marcos handed Jason the phone. “Say hi to daddy, Jason.”

“Bauer!” Jason barked into the phone.

“For God sakes, son. Would you stop playing that ridiculous game. I thought you were really in trouble for a second. Tell mom I’ll be late for supper.”

With that, he hung up the phone. Clearly this was going to be tougher than they’d thought.
