Just A Little Fluttering
I felt my phone buzz. I didn’t even glance at the caller ID. Me: So did you work it out?
Cynthia: Yeah, I’m off the hook, you?
Me: I’m headed to the police station.
Her: Are you serious?!?
Me: Yes.
Her: Oh my… I am so sorry.
Me: It’s not so bad. I just got picked up by my dad, no biggie… (pause) Cynthia, seriously, it’s ok, she does this all the time.
Rendor nodded in agreement beside me (not that she could see).
Her: Ok, I’ll see you later then?
Me: Um, yes, I’m here now.
Her: Bye.
Me: Bye.
I shut my phone and pulled into a space in front of the police station. Rendor: You know, you really shouldn’t talk on your cell phone while driving.
I rolled my eyes. Me: Save it, Rendor.
He chuckled as we walked through the front doors. Mom was rushing towards me, yelling, crying, and fluttering in her hysterics.
Rendor trailed behind me. Him (muttering): Good luck.
