How to take it
I sat down in class, watching the clock the whole time.
I ran out of the room as soon as the bell rang and headed straight for the place where I usually see Ashley before she gets to the cafeteria.
“Ashley!!” I called out to her. She looked back and smiled at me, but it vanished after a few seconds later.
“Hey” she said in a weak voice.
“Hey, I wanted to talk about what’s been going… on…” I said, with each word getting weaker. I looked at her and she looked like she was about to cry.
What have I done now?
“It’s alright. Just glad you didn’t lie to me like everyone else did.” She hugged me and held me tightly. I padded her on the back and said, “I’m sorry…”
I didn’t know what else to say. I just stood there with her, hanging onto me.
What am I supposed to do.
Later that day at home, I could only think about what was going on.
Why did I get Ashley involved like this? Why couldn’t Lauren have come sooner?
I looked over on the counter in the kitchen to see the same knife sitting there.
