When we finally found refuge hiding out in the back of mangotree, we began our introductions. “Kat, meet Kevin, Joe, and Nick,” said Amanda, “Kev, Joe, Nick, this is my cousin, Katrina.”
“Hey,” they said in unison, huffing, still tired from our run.
“Hi,” Kat said, speaking quietly for probably the first time in her life. She scooted closer to Joe, “I have wanted to meet you guys for so long!” She exclaimed, still sort-of whispering.
“Uh, thanks,” said Joe, turning to Blair. “Um, Kat, I am assuming you know Blair, my girlfriend?”
Kat’s smile faded, “Yeah. I know her.” She looked at Blair. “Girlfriend, huh?”
Blair nodded vigorously.
“What happened to the ‘JOE HAS THUNDER THIGHS ?’” she asked, her anger rising, “Or the ‘EW! If we ever met them, Kat, Joe is all your’s’?!”
Blair looked down. “Things change.” She stated quietly. Then she looked at Kat, glaring. “But now, he’s mine.”
Kat took a deep breath. “For now,” she said.
