Just A Little Embracing
Him (Spluttering):Why you little—!
I cut him off with a playful kiss. He didn’t respond. I could feel the tips of his mouth turned down in a frown. Reluctantly, I parted my lips from his.
Me: It was just a joke.
Him: It wasn’t funny.
Me: Neither was threatening to dunk me in the water.
He frowned. Him: True, I guess. But you made me feel guilty.
Me: You terrified me.
He grinned. Him: So are we even?
Me: Yes.
I kissed him again, but he broke away. Him: Wait a minute.
Me: What?
Him: So I didn’t really hurt you?
Me: No…
Him: So I didn’t break my promise…
I understood what he was getting at. Me: You’re ridiculous. You could just ask; you know that? You don’t have to con me into it.
He grinned. Him: Ok then, will you sit in my lap and cling to me like your life depends on it?
I chuckled. Me: Ok, I guess it does sound a little silly.
He swept me up and carried me over to the tree. He sat down, and I sat on his legs, wrapping my arms around his neck. Me: Happy?
He kissed my forehead. Him: Yes.
