Watching Each Other

A small, insignificant car drove by another, ordinary apartment building. The small, insignificant car carried a small girl as a passenger; she turned her head to the right and gazed into one of the apartment buildings windows. She saw a shining chandelier, and rejoiced in the warm glow from afar.

The grandmother drinking her tea underneath the light of the chandelier had no idea someone was watching her. She looked out her window and saw a stray dog sauntering away on the sidewalk.

The dog trotted past a little flower shop, where a brunette girl was tending the small forget – me – not bouquets out front, and watched a small, insignificant car sputter by her store.

She shrugged and continued her work. A small shattering came from above her, and she turned her head upwards to the window to see a grandmother picking up the remains of a tea cup.

The young lady filled her watering can again, and fluffed the bachelor’s buttons flowers behind the gardenias.

So, you see, we are all watching each other.
