“Hey there, Kayla. Its Brenton again, I just wanted to know if-”
Kayla picked up the phone as soon as she heard his voice.
“Hey! Im here, I was just kinda busy…”
“Oh, ok.” his voice seemed to hide something, but Kayla couldnt sense exactly what.
“So, what did you want to know?”
“Well, I was wondering if you wanted to come to my party tomorrow, it’s gonna be my 17th birthday, and most of my friends are coming.”
Kayla smiled, “Sure, Id love to come. What time?”
“Er, around seven, is that ok?”
“Yea, Ill be there.”
A moment of silence loomed between them, but it seemed to bring them closer somehow. It wasn’t awkward silence, but an air of tangible feeling… something indescribable, and both were waiting for the other to say something, but what were they expecting? What did they want to hear from each other? All they did was listen to each other’s soft breath for what seemed like forever. At long last, Brenton said something, in a soothed tone of voice.
“I’ll talk to you later, k?”
“alright, bye…”
