What's No Longer There
Right from the start, he caught my eye.
I couldn’t help but notice him, and once I did I couldn’t tear my eyes away. Entering the room like a shy boy of five, he looked as if he wasn’t quite sure what he was doing there.
He lifted his gaze from his feet and searched the room with his eyes, almost anxiously. I quickly averted my stare as they fell on me, then passed on. Peeking from under my lashes, I watched until his eyes stopped and rested on something. Suddenly, his whole face lit up in recognition and I knew he had found what he was looking for.
Craning my head in the direction of his gaze, my heart sank as I saw him quicken his step towards a pretty, smiling woman. Once he had joined her, they immediately began an intense discussion and the radiant glow on both of their faces made me sick to my stomach.
I knew it was love, and I wanted it so badly.
How could I forget about what I had, and lost?
