The Blizzard of '78
“Chris had one of them stretchy action figures – Mr. Armstrong or something,” she said. “Jim was standin’ there in the doorway laughin’ and tellin’ us about the news while your Uncle John – he was on the couch asleep. I remember looking out the window at the falling snow.” Grandma said as she placed an old magazine back in the rack.
“Was that when you had the blizzard?” Theresa asked.
“It was January of ‘78. Jim was standing in the doorway telling us about some sattelite that blew up. He always kept up with the news you know. He could have done so much if he would have just quit drinkin’!” she said as she stamped her foot.
“Grandma? What about the bliiiiizzarrrd??”
“Johnny Carson was on the tube and your Uncle John came in and turned it off. John was worried about closing the packing house you know – and your Aunt Cathy was pregnant with Amy. You know I don’t think we even had remote controls back then. I don’t even really remember anybody complaining about having to change the channel. “
