Star Trek: Generation Gap
As Kirk sat in his quarters aboard the U.S.S. Farragut, he wondered why he was here. Years before, days to him, on the Enterprise B, he had been listed as killed in action, but now – here he sat, on this strange ship, with these strange people. Somewhere, someone had made a mistake.
That poor man. Picard was it? Had given his life for that control device. They had saved the day, again. So what? All he could think about was Antonia, and how he longed to be back in the Nexus. Real or not, to spend the rest of his days in that dream would have been to be in ecstasy for a lifetime. He would have that again.
A strange chirp broke him from his thoughts, and he heard a voice say “Deck Officer Charles to Captain Kirk.” It was the comm badge he was given.. now how did this thing work again? “Deck officer to Captain Kirk, respond please. Just tap your communicator sir.” Kirk should have paid more attention upon boarding, now he looked like a fool. Sternly, he tapped the badge and said, “Kirk here.”
