Just A Little Roof Jumping

After I was done throwing my clothing at him, I heard Dad knock on my door.Him: Cynthia, honey, can we talk about this?
Me: No Dad, leave me alone.
Him: Honey…
I threw a shoe at the locked door. It worked, I heard him sigh and walk away. That would give us some extra time. I looked down at Drew, eyeing the distance to the ground nervously.
Me: If I fall, will you catch me?
He smiled reassuringly. Him: Always.
I crawled out my window carefully hanging onto the roof, he watched my descent, placing himself directly under me. Light as I was, I was sure the tree wouldn’t hold my weight. So I gripped the edge of the roof determinedly, swinging myself down so I was hanging by arms. I felt Drew touch my foot gently.
Him: Go ahead.
I took a deep breath. Me: Now.
For a brief second it felt like I was suspended in the air, and then I hit his warm arms and he caught me… not effortlessly, he stumbled a bit and it wasn’t the most graceful of landings for me, but he did catch me. And that was all that mattered.
