Ok, this story came to me in the shower. First I had the title then the rest filled itself in. By the time I realized that it was a take on Will Hindmarch’s “A Loaded Gun in the Mailbox” I was already invested in the story. Anyway I decided to just go for it and make a direct parody. I hope Will doesn’t mind.

Nice descriptions and realistic character motivations with a believable sci-fi element. Nicely done! “fat harpy wife…” you’re bad…. : )

This could have been a prequel to the Hand in the mailbox story. I wish one could link stories after they were written.

PyroPunk, While in a similar vein, I didn’t feel this story really fit thematically into Will’s so I left it in its own thread.
