Keep Running
He dove into an alley, breathing extremely hard. It worked in movies, why couldn’t it work now?
It didn’t. They followed him into the alley, driving him over the chain-link fence. After he reached the top, he jumped the fifteen feet down and landed, quite possibly breaking a toe.
He kept running, a limping run from the fact that he couldn’t move several of his toes. He could hear shouts from behind him, voices of his pusuers. He was surprised that he could hear anything over his heartbeat and the raspy bits of air that came in and out of his lungs at light speed. But all he could do was keep running.
Keep running…
