Missing
Sunshine flooded in the room, casting a warm, golden glow on the recently polished hardwood floors. Sunshine seemed to make everything better, thought Claire. The beautiful front room of her family’s estate in Orange County, California looked even better with the sun.
Claire sighed audibly as waiters carrying huge silver platters scurried from the kitchen to the front room to the back yard to prepare for the annual start-of-summer party. Really, there was no reason to sigh. She’d gotten everything she’d ever wanted, and looked great doing it. Her black BCBG coctail-length party dress looked fabulous against her perfectly spray tanned skin. Her light amber hair was swept up into a simple updo, the kind that takes hours to look like you ‘just threw it up’. The shimmery purple Jimmy Choo heels glimmered so sparkles were cast all over the room. There was something missing though, she thought.
“CLAIRE!” shouted her mother, inturrupting her thoughts. “Have you seen my phone anywhere?”
“Nope.” Claire said.
