Alchemist
I was not like the other stone-giants. They amused themselves with throwing rocks at everything and bashing each other over the head with quartzite clubs. This epiphany I had shortly (in geological terms) after my 9 millionth year of existence, towards the end of what humans call the late Jurassic period.
It was a year like many others, spent kicking pesky little dinosaurs, throwing rocks, playing tag. My arm had been bashed by one of the larger giants and was crumbling profusely. I sat down on a hillock and tended my wound. Pushing pieces of granite into the gaping hole, I noticed that I could mold the granite into exactly the shape I wanted.
I started experimenting and discovered that I could also convert rocks from one type to another. At first I created some metamorphic rock from sedimentary rock. Later, when my technique had been perfected, I started augmenting my own silicon based nervous system with some advanced gadgetry.
After my first body modification I felt faster, cleverer and much more alive.
