Searching for that Something

Gently pushing her way through the crowded hall, her restless fingers drummed a pattern on the hem of her new dress, tags still attached. She didn’t take in the conversations going on around her, she only heard murmurs and a few elated tones that may have been laughs. Glancing through open doors, her eyes curtained over the scenes unfolding within. She kept searching, but with no intention of finding what she was looking for. How could she, when she herself didn’t even know what was causing her to wander through the clusters of people taking part in what was most likely going to be described as an “enjoyable evening” in the next few weeks, searching for that something.

That something that would finally make that restless feeling at the bottom of her spine cease, something that will let her smile honestly, something that lets her pull that curtain back from her eyes and see the world like she used to.
