Solution
His eyes opened in the darkness. Only moments before had his consciousness risen from its slumber. The cat, sleeping at his feet.
His mind was still gathering itself when the faint morning light cast by the rising sun bled over the horizon, surged around the myriad dwellings of Lyxdesia, burst through his window and leaped into his pupils.
The photons a messenger. The message, a solution. The solution emblazoned in the expanse of his mind with such clarity that for a moment he was convinced that in fact the rest of his life was a dream and this was reality. He needed to transcribe it, get it down, make sure he didn’t lose it to the shifting sands of his mind.
Alas, it was for naught. His day was filled with urgency upon urgency, until finally night fell and he, exhausted collapsed on his couch with cat in lap and not a thought in his head.
The sun, relentless in its pursuit, bounced off the moon, through his window and into his eyes. The message returned and with renewed vigor, he sat at his workstation.
