Quarrels Between Generations

Sioni’s eyelids had barely cracked open when she heard the hushed, angry words, from the foot of her bed. She quickly closed them, and breathed more quietly to hear better.

“This is just as much your fault, but Eva’s off to handle it alone?” Ridda raged at Sioni’s father. “You never had much of a spine, but this I would never have believed, not without seeing it with my own eyes.”

“You would never understand, the proud Ridda, so secure and sure throughout her life. You have a son, you were blessed with a normal life. You haven’t had to deal with curses and a- a daughter you never get to see.” His voice shook with emotion, what was he talking about?

“I was there when Eva cursed Arelia, and there when you forced her into the woods, and it is all of your doing that Sioni was even kidnapped! If all of you could have just resolved your quarrels amongst yourselves, if you’d shown the slightest maturity-”

“You have sided with the witch and cannot be trusted. You will never see my daughter again. Out!”
