Remembering Expressions
I watched his expression carefully, reading every passing thought in his eyes. It wasn’t too hard, Drew was fairly easy to read… and I’d had lots of practice in reading emotions.
Anger, confusion, pain… and… something else. Was it reluctance? I frowned to myself, thinking.
He didn’t laugh at my horrid attempt at humor, but I wasn’t surprised. I wasn’t expecting to be at the laughing stage yet. This was going to be a slow fix, but I needed to do this. Not just because of my OCD problem, I owed it too him. I needed to do this.
“Look,” I said carefully, “I’ll be around, ok? If you ever want to talk to someone, I’m here. You can trust me, I won’t give away your secrets.”
A funny look crossed his face- this one I couldn’t define. That was strange, for me, anyway. Maybe he wasn’t quite so easy to read after all. I wondered if he thought I was crazy… probably. Most people did.
“Ok,” he said in a way that suggested he wouldn’t be taking me up on that offer. I frowned to myself, watching him walk away.
