No Goodbyes
The land stretched out down below her as she stood atop the cliff, arms outstretched, trying to catch the breeze. Maybe, just maybe, if she thought hard enough, it would catch her up and take her away. Eyes closed,she could see it. Soaring away from here, away from her family, away from the world that had tried to change her. That had tried to make her give up.
But she refused. She wouldnt fall into that trap. So she stepped back and fell onto the soft grass, finally letting the tears fall. She knew it was time.
She couldn’t stay here anymore. No matter what had happened, this had been a long time coming. Tonight was the night.
She lay in the grass for a long time, staring up at the cloudy sky turning to dusk. She knew the world was much bigger than herself, and it was certainly bigger than this town and all the people in it. If she couldn’t fit here, she would go to the one place that everyone ould find themselves, or at least a piece. New York City.
