Prosopagnosia: Escape
Fear gripped her. Her heart, beating fiercely, threatening to deafen her. Her lungs began to burn. She had barely escaped them. Now she was hiding in a dark, quiet, spot, the only sounds her ragged, irregular breathing and the thunder of her beating heart.
Days and nights had passed. She struggled in and out of conciousness, her awareness clouded by medication and injuries. Every muscle in her body screamed in protest.
Who were they? What did they want with her?
When the nurses said relatives were there, able to identify her. She was overwhelmed with joy. Her memories before regaining conciousness in the hospital were non-existent. She didn’t even know her name or recognize her own face.
Yet, she knew them and she knew they were not family. She knew her only option was to run. She did.
