Let us dance, until the sun comes up or the moon falls down
The DJ stated playing I’m Alive by Celine Dion.
“Oh my gosh Tom! I love this song!”
I took her hand and we began dancing slowly across the floor. There were about ten other pairs on the dance floor, while the rest of the guests watched and gave “aws”. Some slinked away, having been bitterly reminded that they were single. Lucy laid her head against my chest.
“I can feel your heart beating.”
I held her closer, and whispered softly in her ear.
“It beats because of you… you’re the moon in my night sky, Lucy.”
She purred softly as we danced away. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Brenton dancing with Kayla. I smiled looks like someone found her heart a place, thank God. I caught her eyes and winked. She smiled and winked back.
The song ended, and another one came on. This time, it was Close to you by The Carpenters.
“I love this song.” I whispered in Lucy’s ear.
She only held my closer and leaned in to kiss me softly. Memories ran through my head, but were shattered by a piercing noise.
