After talking to her mom, Macy felt a lot better about her situation.

Macy was walking down the hall the nest day when she stopped at Derrick’s locker. “Hey, um can I talk to you?â€?

“Sure.â€? he replied.

“Listen I’m really sorry about Macon.â€?

“I just thought I’d have you after Shane.â€?

Macy winced as he said that but Derrick pretended not to notice. “It’s just so complicated. But I want you to know that I love you. Shouldn’t that be enough?â€?

“I wish it was, Macy.â€? Just then two things happened. The first was the bell ringing which led Derrick to walk away without a bye and the second was Macon pulling Macy into the closet by the lockers.

He was on top of her in an instant. “Hey baby.â€? His breath was nice and sweet.

“Get off.â€?

Macon continued like she hadn’t spoken. “So, I was thinking, why don’t we do IT again?â€?

“No.”

“But that was the whole point of the closet.â€?

Macy sighed. She didn’t want to say this, to hurt him so much, but it was the only way. “I don’t love you Macon.â€?
