The glass princess
Once upon a time, when men were men and kings were real, mighty king Leonard ruled over the land of Reswell. Together with his wife Samantha, and his daughters Adalia, Akeelah and Alissa (he loved the alliteration of their names) they lived in a huge stone castle. Yes, the castle had a moat and a drawbridge, but that’s not relevant to this story.
The girls weren’t triplets; They were born one after the other over a space of just over three years and since the king was a practical man he decided to baptise them all at once.
The baptism was to be a huge feast and every nobleman was invited to join the festivities. The king left the planning to his wife and busied himself with matters of state. Only one thing he was adamant about, the four fairy queens were to be the godmothers of the children. The fairies lived in the four corners of the land and since nobody could speak their names, they were called North, East, South and West.
As there were three girls and four fairies the king proposed a game of chance…
