First Date Pt. 1
How stupid could I be? How did I let my friends convince me into going out again? Now I was making a fool of myself. All I could talk about was my dead husband. Seriously, who wants to hear about the deceased? Not anyone, really. So I wasn’t getting very far. Why did I think that I could be ready to go out there again after only six months? I wasn’t crying all the time, but… Well, I still missed him.
I went to the bar and sat down. “I don’t care what kind, just please give me some hard liquor.”
“Bad day?” a voice next to me asked, “Happens to the best of us.”
When I turned around to see him, I noticed he also looked a little tired. From something, I didn’t know what. But it didn’t stop him from being gorgeous.
“Kind of bad year,” I laughed, for some reason.
“Ah, yes,” he said, kind of looking off into the distance. But he soon looked back and said, “So… was your year worse than mine?” He didn’t sound so challenging as just teasing.
“Well…” I said, and I started my story…
