I had actually seen this before, and thought about writing a sequel. Making the main character a detective who was working on a case where a body was found along this creek. But I didn’t do it. Still enjoyed the ficlet though.
And I thought I commented on it a while ago, guess not. In any case, very nice job. The feelings you’ve generated here are very strong. It’s evocative of similar emotions I think we all have as we grow up, and away from our childhood.

Very bittersweet. I had a similar place of childhood fantasy and play. Very sad the day I went back and saw it through older eyes.
