Musings of the 18 Year Old

There is no shame in hard work or fighting for what you believe in. It is people who wish to make a difference in the world that truly bring about change.
But working tirelessly to achieve it? Fighting for what you believe in is wonderful but you can’t survive it if you don’t take a break and learn to enjoy yourself some.
I believe in enjoying time off when it’s offered to me. Sure I have a summer job, but there’s always time for me to unwind and enjoy my life.
You’re only young with subsidized gas money once and there’s no excuse for being too busy to enjoy yourself.
I hate people who don’t take time to live their lives in the now because the future looms too much for them. It’s a waste.
I may never be the person in the news. I probably won’t discover the cure for cancer or AIDS or write the next Great American Novel or start an award winning restaurant.
But I will die knowing that I lived my life according to what I really wanted and never did what others wanted me to do.
I will not go grimly into oblivion.
