Inevitably Human
Tiny pinpricks of light scattered across the black, and all I could do was stand there and watch as the universe came apart around me. Millions of stars just fell from the sky, and I was alone, simply standing in the middle of it all and waiting for the sparks to come burn my skin. Somehow, my knees came down to soak up moisture from the ground below me, and I found myself in the dark, along with my millions of stars shining through the fog of my mind. There was no thought, no action, no emotion. It was existence down to the barest instinct. This is me. Alive, breathing in the beating of my own heart and the pulsations of the light that had come to be a part of me in that single moment. Only the stars and I existed. Everything was in the many facets of light reflecting into my essence. It was just the stars. Millions of them. And when we fell, we fell together. Into the black of the shattered night. Just stars.
