Airborne- pt. 6

The red alert went off. I looked at my radar and saw the green slivers pronounced as missiles.
“Mobius One, this is command. Take evasive action! ETA for reinforcements is ten minutes,” Marshall West practically yelled into the radio.
I was at a steady altitude of 12,000 feet. I made a quick guesstimate in my head- the missile would hit in about twenty seconds. I slowed down as fast as I could; hoping, just hoping, it would work.
I let out a sigh of relief as the green light came on. I was stalling. The missiles were less than ten seconds away. I felt a sudden lunging motion as my plane reached a speed that no longer allowed it to stay airborne. I fell down and down. The red alert cooled off for a minute, and I felt my nerves cool as well.
I pulled up at 5,000 feet. The bogey was still right on my tail. I saw a canyon up ahead. Quickly scanning it with my eyes, I found my opportunity. A leviathan rock tower formed a roundabout- a perfect opportunity to tip the scales in my favor. I dipped down towards it.
