Not entirely happy with this as a stand-alone ficlet, but it was a fun little challenge.

I love it! The numbers are discreet enough that if it weren’t for the challenge, the count might not even be noticable. ;)

Very dramatic entry into the challenge. Did not see the shotgun to the head coming…but I guess, neither did the guy in the story.

Good story, as was said earlier if it wasn’t for the challenge I probably wouldn’t have noticed the count up.

Wow what a tragic twist to the story. I like how his fellow officer unloaded his clip in a sign of revenge. He mut have been furious! He watched his comrade get shot in the skull.The numbers fit the story well. It wasn’t too obvious.. I think THX should strongly consider this one when he is selecting the winner.

@Sarah, thank you for that. I tried to make the numbers kind of blend in as much as possible. It was quite difficult to force one number per sentence without it seeming forced. I think it started to fall apart at the end.
Basically, the numbers told me how the story would go. I started with zero idea on what to write, only my challenge of counting up, one number per sentence.
I’m very glad that you guys liked it, and am thankful for you taking the time to read it and post your thoughts.

I enjoyed reading this as well as watching to see how you would incorporate the next number into the story! (I caught on by 7,8,9. Having them spelled out makes them fade into the story)

I loved the countdown and like others have said if I wasn’t looking for numbers I might not have noticed.
