“Dan!”
“What?!”
“I can’t figure this out,” Kate pouted, and threw her wrench to the floor in defeat. It crushed her toe in the process, and she jumped around like a possessed tennis ball, holding her foot close to her.
“For heaven’s sake, Kate, quit jumping around like that; you’ll get me dizzy,” Dan groaned.
“That was a HUGE wrench!” Kate whined.
“Well, you should have known better than to throw it square at your damn foot!” Dan countered.
There was silence for a moment.
“What did you need help with?”
“I can’t seem to start the engine,” Kate said, frowning.
“Just turn the ignition,” Dan sighed.
“I’m not an idiot.”
Dan groaned again and leaned over into the machinery of the spaceship.
“Charging the fizzler…fizzling the charger, gear shift, outer shield,” he mumbled, and stroked his chin thoughtfully.
Suddenly, Dan had an epiphany.
“How about pressing the gigantic red button that says ‘go’?”
“Don’t touch it!” Kate yelped.
Too late. He poked the button, and engine sputtered into life.
“You were saying?”
