Evangeline
Evangeline liked the number 10. It was neat, pretty, perfect. In a way, it reminded Evangeline of herself.
You see, Evangeline McDermott was a selfish and vain creature. Indeed she was neat, pretty, and by some standards, perfect. But these are outward and shallow observations. In many ways Evangeline was rather like a pretty music box. She was beautiful and entertaining on the outside, but look inside and you’d find nothing.
However, most people don’t bother looking inside pretty music boxes, mostly because they know they’ll be disappointed to find nothing but emptiness. This is why Evangeline had succeeded thus far at putting people under her blue-eyed spell. For who could resist such an elegant and entrancing young woman? Who could ever deny her the wants of her precious heart?
Yes, Evangeline was quite spoiled and shallow. But for some reason people found delight in her company. She was, as Glinda so wonderfully put it, “Popular!” Then again, aren’t the rotten ones always?
