Looks Can Be Deceiving

Faith wondered what Jake was talking about, the Hughes twins were angelic beings incapable of guile, or at least that’s what she thought when Rusty opened the door with a shy smile.

This is gonna be a walk in the park.

Mr. Hughes welcomed Faith inside, while Rusty went in search of his cherubim twin. “Well, you have your work cut out for you, Faith,” Mr. Hughes said, smiling. “These two will have you running around in circles. We stick to three No’s in this household: no sugar, no cigarettes and no firearms. If you hold to those rules, you should be all right.”

She furrowed her brow.

“I was joking, Faith. It’s every sitter’s rite of passage, at least in this household.”

“Oh, I see. Well, they look like absolute angels,” Faith said, as Rusty and Matthew approached timidly.

“Looks can be deceiving,” Mrs. Hughes said as she walked downstairs. “If you need anything or there’s an emergency, feel free to give us a call. You have our number. And thanks so much, Faith. We never get to go out anymore.”
