Daydreaming
Ally gazed out the window as the farms passed by. Her thoughts drifted back to that horrific night.
NO! She knew not to think on that night. The nightmares were bad enough but missing 31 hours of her life scared her. She didn’t relish the thought of blacking out or relying on someone to take care of her; especially if that someone else was John.
John had told her that she only passed out, but the bruises on his face and the broken window told her the real story. She didn’t like the look of fear in his eyes when she came to. He deserved better.
5…6…7 She counted each fencepost as she fought back her demons.
Kimmy would be 7 now. Ally’s thoughts betrayed her. She remembered how her sister Kimmy had been posed like a doll. Kimmy had looked so unnatural .
Ally needed to vomit.
“How about some music?”
Ally grabbed John’s wrist when he reached for the radio, her knuckles were turning white. His wrist felt like it was about to explode.
“I need fresh air. Pull over… NOW !“
