Dr. Proto
The following morning I finally got hold of Dr. Gervace Proto. He was a very tall man, 6’5, lanky. His long hair the color of the shining sun. His eyes were deep brown, bags under them denoting lack of sleep. A goatee with a tinge of gray, he reminded me of a magician, or a late night horror host. His age was impossible to determine. In a certain light he seemed to age ten years.
His manner was sophisticated, standoffish.
“I need to speak with you Doctor,â? I said.
“About what?â?, he replied impatiently.
“In confidence,â? I said, motioning to his new receptionist.
“Follow me,â? the doctor said, and I did.
His office was cluttered. Books, papers, chemical bottles. The typical ‘mad’ scientist feel about the room.
