Beginning of a New Dawn

The fuzzy bunny that had arrived with Dawn was by this time tattered and old and Dawn herself had become quite the opposite, a beautiful, yet quiet, young lady. She was fast approaching her sweet sixteen, something expected by family, like everything else in her life, to be uneventful. No party was planned, for she had no friends, and as fast as it had approached, her birthday passed just as quickly, with the exception of that night.

Dawn tossed and turned that night on the tiny mattress her adoptive parents had got her as a bed when she arrived. She couldn’t sleep, something not uncommon to her, except it was much worse this time than any other.

She awoke groggy and tired the next morning and sat, as was her normal routine, staring at the wall across from her bed. But something was unusual, and she quickly noticed. As she tilted her head to figure it out, the doorbell rang, another unusual occurence. No one ever visited.
