Rescue Mission
The macadam screamed hot protestation as the tires spun wildly upon them, Liam pounding the accelerator with pugilistic feet. All the punishment he wanted to heap on that caricature of a father he had just left would be reserved for whomever was responsible for his sister’s disappearance.
He had gotten the number, made the call, and received the anticipated response. Reynaldo swore he knew nothing of Marly’s whereabouts but Liam was not convinced. There had been an anxious tremor in his voice.
Remembering their last conversation, his heart broke for she had confided much more than he’d wanted to know. Marly was just a waif of a teenager, impressionable and eager to please. Liam was sure that the first time they had asked her to transport, she had trusted these so-called friends of the family. She had always been taken in by their father, believed his spin.
Now he had spun a web in which she was caught. It was up to Liam to get her out.
Reynaldo would be very sorry he hadn’t offered the assist.
