A Love Song
The band begins to play, a hushed tone comes over the crowd as we step on stage. I look at you, you look at me.
Both of us have tears streaming down our faces.
We sing harder than we ever have in our entire lives. Every note is not forced, or strained, but is sung clearly from the deepest reaches of our heart and soul. The crowd gasps as we kiss during the guitar solo, proclaiming how our love is true.
The song builds in intensity. The people gathered here tonight pull out lighters, flick them on, and hold them high above their heads in celebration of love.
As the song ends, I take you on my shoulders, and let you fall, but I don’t let you fall all the way. I catch you on the way down, as you sing the final words to our love song. Starry eyed, we look at each other and take in the beauty of the moment as the crowd roars with approval. We sang a love song.
