Two surfboards slowly climbed through the sand and lay at their feet. “What do you see?â?
“Besides some jerk?â?
Trent laughed again, “yes, besides me.â?
“Well, I see these two surfboards that grew out of the sand, the beach, and there’s still some bamboo flooring behind us.â?
“Does that tell you where we are?â?
“No.â?
“Why not?â?
“Because this place can’t exist.â?
“But you’re here. I’m here. Don’t you smell the ocean air? Hear the waves crash? Feel the sand? Doesn’t that mean it exists?â?
“I guess so. But that doesn’t explain where we are, or how I got here.â?
“I thought you took the stairs?â?
“Dude, you’re really annoying, you know that?â?
“So I’ve been told.â? Trent grabbed one of the boards and headed for the ocean. “Come on. Let’s go find you those answers.â?
Todd reluctantly strapped the board to his ankle and followed Trent into the water.
