I never got people who did that, but I still think it’s kind of cool, in a way. Interesting that it’s phrased “marble monstrosities” in the last pgh. Almost as if she’s doing this against her will?
Grave etchings is certainly a great starting point for a spooky story…puts your character in the right setting and gives us a hint or two as to her state of mind.
I’m one of those people. Genealogy is addictive. ;D Never been to a cemetery with crypts, but the reference to the “marble monstrosities” is just to drive home the point that no matter how many cemeteries you’ve stood in the middle of during the day, once it gets dark, your perspective shifts.
You’ve done an excellent job setting up the mood here. I’m expecting bad things to happen. I’ve got no issues with cemeteries. Day or night. Benefit of not believing in souls. Gas stations on the other hand… creep me out at night.
