Divine Wind [Twisted History Challenge]
With a heavy heart Nobunaga stared out across the quiet sea. The day was coming, a potential end to their noble way of life. Countless hordes crouched in sturdy vessels just off the coast.
Proud as they were, banded together as they were, awe-inspiring as they were, still the samurai knew their odds were less than promising. Nonetheless he was comforted that his death would be a noble one. He would die in battle soon enough, unless his people’s prayers were answered.
All the countryside and most of the soldiers prayed to the kami, big and small. Some prayed for strength in battle. Others prayed for a waning of these invaders’ interest. But most, and those that prayed most fervently, prayed for a divine wind to come and sweep away the ships at sea.
So vulnerable to the waves, their armor and swords would avail them nothing. So cramped, they would die by the thousands. So heavy with lust for conquest, they would sink like stones.
But alas, it was a clear day. A clear day to die.
