Best Friends for Never (Scavenger Hunt Challenge)

I remember that day well. It was September fifteenth, 1995. This girl Liz was sitting next to me, Mara. She was really shy. At recess, I asked if she wanted to play hide-and seek. She said yes, so we’ve been best friends since. So Liz and I are here on this cold December day, drinking hot chocolate with those cheap little marshmellows in them.
“Oh, you girls are drinking hot chocolate?” my mom said. “I was going to make the soup you like.”
“Thanks Mrs. Robinson, we’re good.” She turned to me and said, “Did you get that math homework? I thought it was kind of hard.”
“What are you retarded or something? That was so easy!” I said to her. She just staired at me. “Oh- Oh my gosh I’m so sorry Liz!” I totally forgot her mom was mentally retarded. Liz grabbed her stuff and ran to the door.
