Legends at Sunrise
Pulling itself up to it’s knees, the figure leaned into the water, trailing hands in the soft play of the water. It was cool in the predawn light. It would warm up when the sun rose, when the eye of the fire god Virkyrrin warmed the earth with his constant watching, his constant vigilance. Legend told that he was watching the earth for any sign of his errant lover, the goddess Maerrys, who fled him when she realised that she would bear his child, fearing that he would force her to marry him or take his child from her. So one day, when the earth was tired of the light he emitted, she drugged him and ran away, thus causing the cycles of night and day as he began searching and was drugged anew each evening.
